Very Funny

This movie was very funny, went to see it with a gang of friends and itmade us all laugh. Its the film to go to if you just want to beentertained. Its a lot like other gross-out films like American Pie,Meet the parents etc...but with a twist and it takes gross-out one stepfurther. The guys I was with picked this out but I have to say thegirls did just as much laughing as they did. Chris Klein did an awesomejob as Cooper - we were all a little surprised that he was so good. TheEd character was also cute he basically plays the typical Jason Biggscharacter but was very sweet. Would recommend to anyone who just wantsto go and have a laugh.

Cooper is super!!!

First of all... If you're into super blockbuster flicks that take youinto a world that you just don't want to leave... see this movie! Thisepic flick puts together all of the greatest genres (including porn)andshould be ranked among the likes of the godfather and raiders of thelost ark!! The acting was incredible (especially by the girls if youcatch my drift tehe) If you're into movies such as Star Wars, Theterminator series, and Lord of the rings, this movie is for especiallyfor you.I recommend this movie too all ages. Not only because it is wholesome,but it is also filled with good morals, and can support a greatchildhood upbringing

Fart Joke The Movie

Don't be fooled by some of the posters. This movie does have a plot!Boy loves to make home movies. Boy becomes man. Man has woman. Womaneats best friend's cum and films it. Man finds woman and friend. Manthrows away camera. Now man can't get laid. Because man can't get laidman loses creativity and will lose job. Brother vows to help man getlaid. Brother gets laid, man ends up in prison... and almost gets laid.People fart. A lot.The two leads are likable and as in any decent fart 'n sex movie thereare loads of pretty chicks. Some do gross stuff. Others look at mandoing gross stuff. Insert the odd joke. More often than not the jokesare lame, pathetic and just disgusting.Must admit I did chuckle a few times and laughed out loud at leastonce. The best part in the movie are the unrated home bloopers, but notall of them are fun to watch. Some should just be deleted permanentlyfrom this world. All in all an OK watch, but the movie is plain bad byany movie standards. Still can be a guilty pleasure and will probablysell with testosterone booming youth.

I liked America's Funniest Home Videos until I saw this.

The Long Weekend does itself no favours by blatantly ripping off theworst bits of the American Pie franchise and infusing it with some ofthe most nauseating and unfunny scenes filmed for this genre.Gross-out sex comedies have been on the rise since the success ofAmerican Pie and its spawns like Not Another Teen Movie, Eurotrip andVan Wilder have thrived at the box office while being panned by many inthe process. Although distasteful for many, these movies have alwaysfound advocates in younger viewers with many of its plots set inschools. Following the recent straight-to-video release of American PiePresents Band Camp, audiences are now subjected to The Long Weekend, acrass sex romp through a city involving 2 brothers and the women theyencounter.In a story as old as time, the uptight and sexually repressed brother,Ed (Roswell's Brendan Fehr) is urged by his playboy brother, Cooper(American Pie alum, Chris Klein) to embark on a weekend of debauchery.Ed, a reserved and artistic advertising wunderkind, has hit rockbottom. His ideas hit a creative slump when he finds out that hisphilandering ex-girlfriend is now married to his former best friend cumroommate. Threatened with the thought of losing his job, he has aweekend to create a new advertising concept for his firm's biggestclient, an insurance company that's on the verge of seeking another adagency's service. With each scenario turning into 1 awkwardsituation after another, a resolute Ed is finally unwavering in hispursuit to have sex by the time his weekend ends.The formulaic plot involving a tense and asexual character thatsuddenly becomes dogged in his pursuit of sex while facing obstaclesthat humiliate, maim and ultimately fortifies him is utilised till theend. A lack of originality is just one of the many reasons this filmfalters as there's none of the comic unpredictability we've come toexpect from recent sex comedies such as The 40 year old Virgin. Thefilm's gross-out factor hits pretty high up on the charts when we startto see bodily fluids being digested, faecal matter and scenes thatborder on bestiality. These scenes seemed to have been tacked on forthe sole purpose of keeping viewers remotely interested in thelacklustre script and cringeworthy dialogue.long weekend 2While it aspires to be a low-budget version of theWedding Crashers or Swingers (both outrageously funny and highlyrecommended Vince Vaughn vehicles), it fails to engage viewers due toits unlovable and pathetic characters that have the misfortune of beingbadly played as well. Fehr seems grossly miscast as Ed as he comes offas a potential sociopath more than a sympathetic and lovelorn chump.Klein's Cooper is the less likable 'Stifler', being more obnoxious andignorant to those around him even when he expiates his shortcomings inthe end. As a film that appeals to a younger and less discerningaudience through its gross humour, its story is unevenly set insituations familiar to adults and those accustomed to the workplace,decreasing its appeal.The only fresh aspect of this film that made it bearable was its uniqueuse of genuine home videos that feature folks getting hurt while inembarrassing situations and animals oblivious to the camera. Thesevideos were used to accentuate a character's emotional state. Probablyguilty Schadenfreude at its worst but it lent a distinct style to thefilm that managed to become part of the climax. No surprise then that 1of the production companies involved in The Long Weekend is Vin Di BonaProductions, the company behind America's Funniest Home Videos.Even a cameo by Lost's Evangeline Lilly was absolutely wasted as a deadbody at a supermodel's funeral. Copious amounts of female nudity,distasteful visuals of animal parts and scatological humour are heapedin its short runtime of 85 minutes, a favour to the audience that thefilm's producers didn't count on. With inflated ticket prices thesedays, this trite and foul effort is a waste of money and time even whenit eventually becomes available for rental.Rating: 1 out of 5 stars

Funny, but could have been much better

I thought this movie started out great, but took some missteps andended up only an average funny film. Still, it's not bad.The use of various amateur videos of disgusting or hilarious ordisgustingly hilarious or hilariously disgusting events was I think themajor feature this film had going for it. It was, dare I say, a boldmove, and I'm certain this film will be banned (or cut) in variouslocales for some of these few seconds.I felt that the part about saving the company was a bit unnecessary. Iwould have left that out.And, like so many Canadian films, it's in the closet about its locationuntil the credits roll. Watching this film, I don't think anybody isbuying the US setting, just because there are US flags on things. It'sclearly Canada. The story doesn't depend on anything being in aparticular city, so why not just be honest about it, instead of havingthis weird "we're not in Kansas anymore" feeling permeate the film?I would have left out most of the moralizing, with the appeal to god,and subsequent acting role. It just doesn't make sense for thatcharacter, and detracts from the fact that this is supposed to be acomedy.But on the whole, I enjoyed the film. It's laugh-out-loud funny at alot of points, and some of those film clips just leave you shocked andspeechless, but in a good way (if you're into being shocked andspeechless). It's something you really have to watch at home, so youcan rewind for those times when you ask "Did I just see that?" or worse"WHAT did I just see?"

i would call it a blockbuster

excellent,funny,witty all in one.my whole household could not stoplaughing. great directing and producing,if you love comedy's then thisis sure to be the comedy of the year. Chris Klein is a absolute geniusin this, this is sure to make you want to let loose and go with theflow for the festive season. anyone who thinks this movie is a flopmust have been watching something else to me,because this is thefunniest movie i have seen in a very very long time.enough said go outand watch it for yourself,you be the judge,and please don't be afraidto laugh and let loose,after watching this i want to be having a longweekend myself.now go and watch this movie straight away,don't hesitate

The trailer is even better than the whole movie

I have never been fond of watching obvious hilarious intended Americanteenage movies such as scary movie, American pie, etc etc.the thing is, even the trailers of the above mentioned features werenot convincing or pretending the real movie to be any better than thosefour trailer minutes....when I saw the trailer for The Long Weekend, I got a whole differentidea.......it seemed like a fast paced cool and worthwhile comedy movieto me.....last night I rented the DVD, but sadly the whole thing was more thandisappointing to me.To cut it shortly: if you've seen the trailer---you have literally seenevery 'funny' moment of this film...the sad thing is, in the real movie the 'funny' moments take sooooolong to build up .....you see them coming for miles (hence, having seenthe trailer) I don't have anything more to say about this film, except:If you've seen the trailer, you've seen the whole movie, only better,faster, and shorter....Films like these make me wanna scream: FERRIS BUELLER.....WHERE AREYOU...???!!!!!

Losing a job is stressful, especially when your only brother is a brain moron. Eddy bets his career over one weekend's work...

An extremely poor film in EVERY sense of the term. It may have providedthe occasional guffaw, but is far from funny. If however, you are atrue fan of toilet humour, this film is for you! Poo and penises: thisfilm would make an 8 year old laugh, and even he would have grasped allthe depth of the jokes. The "flash of genius" of the hero at the end isfar too predictable it's sad and you never really feel sympathetictowards the hero because frankly, there's not much of a character.Overall, it must have been a darn long weekend for the scriptwriterswho must have written most of the plot with their hands behind theirback, considering the result.The single scene worth remembering is Cooper's talk to God, whose voiceis materialized by thunder and lightning. Other than that, nothinginteresting.

Well what can I say, if you're going to watch this and you're reallyinto a great epic you'll be disappointed. But if you hold in mind thatthis came from the makers from American Pie you know what's coming toyou.It's a shame Chris Klein hasn't have his chance to shine on his ownbecause he really isn't a bad actor, he's just getting deals to sh*ttymovies I guess.About the movie, story isn't that deep. Jokes are many based on sex andfarts but it's a good movie to kill a rainy Sunday evening with.The outtakes were the best in my opinion so don't walk raging out ofcinema just yet..

The Long Weekend is Funny

I will first off admit that this movie does not try to "take' YOUANYWHERE OR deliver any social messages , it is just two brothers , onetrying to help the other get over an ex . i didn't expect much , iwatch a lot of movies , although the plot is thin the characters areengaging and interesting enough. to me, a comedy is not a good comedyunless you are laughing ten minutes in , this movie has funny openingscenes ,it is kinda typical in that it has its bathroom humor andgratuitous nudity but i was laughing right off the bat and regularlythroughout.some of the jokes that could possibly be considered old areapproached from a different angle and caught me with timing that i wasnot expecting --creating surprise and spontaneous laughter this onesgoing on my classics/repeat watch list ---

The most dreadful, self-indulgent piece of crap ever made

I like Chris Klein, and I like these types of comedies. This is why Ihad confidence that The Long Weekend was gonna be a very, very funnymovie. I am sad to say I was wrong. I did not laugh at any one pointthroughout this whole movie. It's a gross-out comedy that's just gross.It's not funny, it's just gross. The story of Ed Waxman (Brendan Fehr),a guy who since babyhood has had a video camera stuck to his face likesuper glue is not anything new or original. This is not one of mybiggest complaints. These movies do not have any intention to be new ororiginal, nor should they. The movie follows how Ed finds hisgirlfriend videotaping her cheating on him. Ed now has lost his job,and no longer even looks at a video camera. Now, his well-intentionedbrother Cooper (Chris Klein) tries to find him love, and just ends upscrewing up his life even more (it figures.) The movie at least has anappropriate title, which is still not a good thing. It falls flat atevery turn, and the movie is appropriately titled because this weekendis long, tedious, boring, and just plain dreadful.

An absolute turkey

The plot summary is thus: One playboy brother attempts to get lessswingin' brother laid. The end.This movie is an absolute turkey, confirmed by the fact I could notstand watching it until the end. Chris Klein confirms his career isdying by agreeing to star in this stinker. Other stars are less thanforgettable and the writer should have his hands chopped off forpenning such rotting garbage.A strong contender for the worst movie of all time. Beware of anyreview above 3 stars - the reviewer obviously had someone else write itfor them on account of their parents being first cousins.

Hilarious Movie!

I thought this movie was so funny and really enjoyed it. It is an adult movie so DO NOT let kids watch this because there is alot of nudity and sex scenes. It has alot of sex humor in it which was great and made me laugh all through it. I can't believe I never heard of this movie until I saw it in the video store! Enjoy.

!don't do it!

This movie, as was to be expected isn't really great. Even though it'sjust another comedy focussing on sex jokes it doesn't even make it inthat category.I don't think it should be compared to American Pie, it's jokes justaren't funny, at all. It's full of homevideo shots of people gettingslapped in the face etc. that have to do with the story. It didn't helpthat once the movie started with a montage of some of these clips 50%of the audience behind me started laughing hysterically. I don't thinkI've ever heard people laughing so hard. I'm seriously wondering ifthey were paid to be there.They didn't make the experience more enjoyable though, although it didmake me smile sometimes when ten people behind me were kicking theground every time someone toppled over. It was really ridiculous.Anyway, I didn't expect much out of 'The Long Weekend' and I viewed itthe way it wants to be viewed, a simple sex comedy. But I still thinkit's not worth watching it. Or at least paying to go see it at themovies. Of course I saw it at a sneak preview so I can honestly say Ididn't know what I was in for.If you're gonna watch it, make sure you're extremely bored and don'thave anything else to do, I guess it can be entertaining under thosecircumstances.

Funny SEX Comedy

While the main drawing card of this movie seems to be the assortment ofraunchy sex gags and I'll admit they do make you laugh (I actuallylaughed so hard at one point I spit out a mouth full of pop). But whatreally helps this movie is the likability and earnestness of the twoguys. You can't help but sympathize with Ed and everyone's has a friendwho is something like the Cooper character. The plot mainly deals with Cooper and Ed's "quest" for sex over onelong weekend. That is all it is, and all it was ever billed to be. Andit goes over great. I admit, I was not too excited about it at firstbut now I am glad I saw it. If you don't like raunchy stories whoflaunt sex jokes shamelessly, and if you didn't like Porky's or FastTimes at Ridgemont High, or American Pie don't go see it. Otherwise, gosee it and laugh your *ss off. Any guy will appreciate The Long Weekend full tilt, and girls willrealize just what hoops guys jump through in order to get theirattention, let alone in their pants. What added to The Long Weekend is that I liked both the characters. Ididn't know Chris Klein could act until I saw this film, this is thefirst time he's stepped out of his usual character and I have to say hesteals the show. I was glad that they didn't make them the stereotypeone nice one sleazy Ed ain't perfect and Cooper isn't all bad. Thebrothers have some genuine moments on the screen which adds to the filmas a whole. Dude, go see this if you want to laugh...I saw this in Europe when isit coming out in the States?!!

It's definitely a bizarre sex comedy!

It's a typical teenage sex comedy film, except in one detail: it mixesto the plot, since the beginning until the end, some weird (sometimesextreme bizarre!) short videotape films (kind of "candid-camera")showing, mainly, animals doing the most absurd and odd things relatedto sex (animal sex)! This movie turns extremely bizarre and uniquebecause of that… Who had such idea?! That's completely crazy! Apart of that unusual "detail", it's just a "normal" teenage sex comedythat begins to be very funny, hilarious at parts, but which doesn't endso good… The ending could have been clearly better, because the lastten minutes have almost no fun and don't bring anything new to thisgenre. It's just a too predictable and conventional ending.So, the "innovation" of this movie was actuality the odd "detail" ofthe short "candid-camera" films mixed in the plot!

the sexy brothers Grimm!!

having nothing to do on a Friday night and all of a sudden rememberedof the thought of mine to watch long weekend as it looked funny(thecover at the video store). the plot was fine and the flow was natural.from the beginning it looked like a new line story for the funny hometapes. bet the producer went thru all the funny and nasty videos theycould find. at last a sexy comedy NOT from high school. the actors wasfine and Cobie Smulders was great on her little part.now the bad parts of the story, they didn't really show coops earlylife nor his career in that one year, and funny how much he got fromthe modeling to afford stuffs he use and spend. well thats not themajor thing about a comedy and over all it was great. i wonder why itis still below 5?
