Plot Summary:
Chappy Sinclair is called to gather together a mixed SovietU.S. strike force that will perform a surgical strike on a massively defended nuclear missile site in the Middle East. Chappy finds that getting the Soviet and U.S. Pilots to cooperate is only the most minor of his problems as he discovers someone in the Pentagon is actively sabotaging his mission. As they begin their assault, Chappy finds that a nuclear strike has been ordered should they fail, which will catch his forces on the ground next to ground zero.

Iron Eagle 2This movie is one of the best second parts of a movie that i have seen. All four parts of the Iron Eagle series were good. The last one was the worst, but it was still very good. I recommend watching all four movies back to back to really enjoy it. |

Not too exciting of a sequel of this top-gun movie but it worksIn the least, a few of the main characters, especially Louis GossettJr., who plays Colonel Sinclair. The movie, I think, is the worst ofthe movies in the Iron Eagle saga but it is not completely bad.....Now, Colonel Sinclair, who thinks he is retired from active duty fromthe United States Air Force, is called upon to do a top-secret mission.Col. Sinclair almost retorts at the idea to get back to classicdogfights in the air but slowly accepts the mission. And like theChicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers, this mission involvesrivalry..but on an international scale. A joint mission. A combined squadron of several American fighter pilots and Soviet Unionfighter pilots, with the help of the Soviet premier, is told that arenegade Middle Eastern country, which is like Bilyad (fictionally madein the first Iron Eagle), is making things even worse for world peacethat both of these countries are trying to make. The fighter pilots who are called to this mission are warned that thiscountry had already built a nuclear weapon facility in a remote desertnear the Caviar Gorge. The facility's personnel had made this facilitylike an impenetrable fortress with 50-millimeter automaticanti-aircraft cannons and a surface-to-air missile canopy with a nearbybuilding compound that houses the guidance system for thesurface-to-air missiles. The facility's personnel is determined to launch its intercontinentalballistic missiles from this facility and target missiles at both theUSSR and the USA if they perceive even the slightest of militarythreats.I like the part when Col. Sinclair figures out (with the help of theSoviet officer in charge of the Soviet fighter pilots) how to take outthe anti-aircraft defenses around the facility, and how the fighterswould have to fire Maverick missiles right into the ventilation shafts(Sinclair calls them "ducts"), which are protected by cannons, thatlead directly to the facility to ensure its explosive destruction ofit.My favorite quotes in the movie was "What is point zebra?...Enemy airspace...the point of no return!" |

Iron Eagle 2I've seeon only the first two, so I'm not yet fluent with all of the plot, but the 2nd movie is a little distracting. The Soviet "BMP-5's" are nothing of the sort. Actually, they're ex-Israeli M113 APC's equipped with twin 40mm guns and rather pathetic rockets on the sides. The MIG 29's (if thats what they were supposed to be) didn't look realistic enough. About the only thing that I was impresed with was the BTR-162 6x6 carrier that was featured. |

Not nearly as bad as depicted hereI think that some of the comments are VERY exaggerated here. Ipersonally prefer this movie to the first one, and the next two werejust awful. Sure, there are some story lines that have been seenbefore. Sure, there is a bit of "Schlock" in here. But overall, this isvery watchable, and pretty entertaining, especially considering howinexpensive this DVD is. I have seen this movie a few times, and Ithink that it is a pretty good movie. People that just pick apart everydetail need to get a life. How many movies have incorrect footage ofairplanes, or footage that has been used before? Who cares??? We knowthese people aren't actually flying these planes!! It's not like thescene in "Bullitt", where Steve McQueen is actually driving.....geezpeople....give this a break....it ain't that bad, in fact it's prettygood..... |

Don't Waste Your TimeThere isn't anything here that you haven't seen before. It's a realdisservice to the original, first of all. Secondly, it's a really badsequel. It isn't even entertaining on a so-bad-its-fun scale. LouGossett Jr. is about the sole thing worth watching and even he's onlyappearing for a quick paycheck. The second of the sequels finds Gossett putting together a bunch ofno-name Canadian actors, some who play Americans and some who playRussians who when they splice in the old cold war 'we can't get alongtogether because of nationality' cliché story element, you have thismovie in a nutshell. A movie that I find myself surprised to say I'veseen twice on late night during bouts of boredom. Why I don't know.Spare yourself. |

Iron Eagle maybe head of timeThis movie taught that are enemies are not always communists. It was brilliant idea for its time. Yes alot is borrowed for Star Wars. But I feel that this movie made efforts besides the Migs are really F-4s and middle country had Kfirs or F-21s Aggressor aircraft being enemy aircraft. It isn't strongness story I had watch but this sounds like real possibly in the future cooperation with Soviet Arms Forces. It is unfornated that Doug gets waxed but that another film. It good film of this sort of Genre. |

The great oneI think That despite the aircraft problem I think that it is a fairly good movie. Now I have seen all of the Iron Eagles but this tops my book because it has every thing from emotion to action and mood-swings (what I like). |

Iron Eagle IIGood sequel, good story and a little something for just about everyone (dogfighting, cold-war theme, hot-shot flying, good guy/bad guy and even a little romance to spice things up a bit -- Oh, and Sharon Brandon, well -- I'd fly with her!). The only thing it really lacks is authenticity on the enemy fighter planes; so, if you're a fighter plane buff, you'll recognize the enemy planes as good 'ol vietnam era U.S. surplus.Otherwise, if you liked Top Gun, you'll want to see this movie at least once. |

Hot ShotsThis movie has an interesting starting it gives you alot to puzzel out in the end, it like gives you an insight on what will happen later= = like when they meet all over again in a much different way (reffering to Cooper and the Russian guy he fought with). The thing I like about this movie is that these people have attitude, real attitude for about everything they do from the mad fighting to romance and most of all they put in a girl as a Pilot which I think spices up things even more, because not only is she the only female but she is also on the oppisite side. But other than that the plane shots were total hot-shot flying which is excellent, the Russian accent was fabulous, the plot was very good and so was the story. Bottom line is that this Movie was a "Hot Shot " hope that I was that Hot Shot "gal" but = = =Sharon you were a total hot shot= = = wouldnt mind flying with you. For "Cooper" he was a total hunk. And as for the crew, well they were one hell of a Mad Rat pack. Apart from that it was Awesome! |

The not-so-great follow up to a great movieWell, this film was kinda lacking, in that Jason Gedrick's character, Doug Masters, gets blown out of the sky in the first 3 minutes and that he was assigned a crappy callsign. However, the soundtrack was ok, but not as brilliant as the original.. There are more plot holes than the original.. Ever notice how the Russian soldier, ("Lebanov", I think his name was) is the same guy who played a Mid-Eastern bad guy and tortured (read: beat-up) Doug's dad, Colonel Ted Masters in the first movie... Ha! Only true Iron Eagle devotees would notice that one.. you've got to get all four of these movies and sit around with some friends from your school days (let's face it, that's when we had IRON EAGLE in our blood) and get some pizzas and beer and enjoy them all over again!Long Live Chappy Sinclair! |

Good Enought to Fly Home WithWell, I liked the film more than TOP GUN, but the one thing that bugged me about the original and this movie was the use of aircraft. In the original movie, the MIG-23s were Israeli IAI Kfir-C3s armed with two 30mm cannons and some very unrealistic looking rockets. Also, the helicopters in the film were not Soviet-bought 'Hinds' as they were stated to be. They were actually surplus US Army AH-1S Cobras. As far as the second film, the MIG-29s were actually surplus USAF F-4F fighters. You'd probably only notice these minor details if you were or are a major aircraft buff like myself, but if not you'll enjoy the movie a lot more. Overall, the movie portrays the US Air Force in a good light and is very well put together. |

Nice movieIt is a good film based on first Iron Eagle. Film has a good sound andmusic - i will find the soundtrack, but it can be hard because thisfilm is so old. When somebody has OST from Iron Eagle 1 or Iron Eagle2, please contact me on my email rafen@seznam.cz.And something about the planes and weapons. They must use only UStechnology, because of the year of made. I think that soviet's wouldnot borough they're original MI 29 in 1988 to US film. Also the enemyplanes were mistakes, i think that thees planes a Kfir - Israel army.Im sorry for my English :) They using some good copies of sovietweapons AK 47, Dnetrajev ... |

My favorite movie as a kid.I think I was about ten when I first saw this movie. I loved it. Itplayedon HBO all the time that summer. I never missed a showing. I wanted tobea jet fighter pilot as a result. A couple years ago it was on HBO againandI hadn't seen it in years so I was excited to relive some childhoodmemories. Sadly, the movie didn't seem so great that last time. As anadult, I can now see the tackiness and plot holes that I didn't noticebefore. Regardless, this movie will always hold a special place insideme."Tearin' up the skies". |

Everybody was kung fu fighting, with airplanes! This time Louis Gossett Jr returns to whip new American and Russianrecruits in line to prepare them for a mission against middle easternterrorists who have gotten a nuclear launching site, of course themission is meant to fail but in the heat of it all heroism prevailsover the differences of the soldiers in question. Iron Eagle II was asridiculous as it's predecessor however the edge of the first one andthe overall amusing teenage vengeance angle is in favor dropped infavor of your basic military mission that for the most part iswatchable if not too interesting. Iron Eagle II is fun in short spurtsit is just that there is just too much character development andGossett while good is not there nearly enough to bail out the movie'slame drama. Still it is at least better than the next two entries.* * out of 4-(Fair) |

Not so good, not so bad.... just satisfactory...The movie is nice but i like the Iron eagle (part 1) better. I have lots of disappointment to this movie. First, They killed Doug Masters. For what reason?..... Second, The movie used F-4 Phantoms as a substitute for a MIG 29 for the Russians. The F-4 Phantoms is very far from reality compared to Mig 29. They should have used F-15 because it really looked similar to the Mig 29 with double tail fins and 2 engines with large boxed type intakes. The least choice should be an F-18 instead of the F-4 Phantoms. Third, the ground support units used an improvised M113 instead of the russian BMP's as what is mentioned in the movie. This movie is fine but i prefer the part 1. |

Great Iron Eagle IIThis review is from: Iron Eagle II (DVD) This movie was great from many viewpoints. The main thing it showed was how a rag-tag group can put things aside and become a true team. Great cast and all around get crew. |

Against a common foeProbably set about five years after Iron Eagle, but before the 1991 fall of the Soviet Union, this high-flying action movie brings back Lou Gossett as "Chappie" Sinclair, Doug Masters's ally in the rescue of his father. Disciplined for his part in the affair by being assigned to duty at an Air Force museum, Chappie finds himself elevated to one-star general and asked to improve upon the maverick mission that put him there. Once again a rogue Middle Eastern state (probably Iran) is causing trouble: it has created a bunker deep in its desert and installed a missile capable of reaching targets as far away as Russia. Both the US (for the sake of its allies in the region) and the Soviets want the bunker and missile destroyed, but neither wants to start a full-scale war, so a surgical strike with co-ordinated ground and air units has been planned. And since neither country quite trusts the other, those units must be made up of personnel from both. It's Sinclair's job to weld them into a cohesive force that can work together and bring down the bunker. The problem is that the people assigned to him are misfits and mavericks--and his nominal superior, Gen. Stillmore (Stuart Margolin), is setting him up to fail. With personality conflicts galore, a tentative romance between USAF Capt. Matt Cooper (Mark Humphrey) and Russian pilot Valeri Zuyeniko (Sharon H. Brandon), and a tension-filled climactic sequence in which Chappie and his team try to carry out their mission before an en route bomber can hit the target and throw fallout for hundreds of miles, this movie, like its predecessor, is especially notable for the aerobatics that fill a good part of the running time. Other reviewers have found fault with the authenticity of the fighters used, but I don't know enough about modern ordinance to care; I just enjoy the flying. |
