Hard to Beat an Original But...OK, so it is not the greatest lead up from a great original musical(and classic)like the first movie was; however, it is not entirely thatbad in that it is what it is: a good, comfortable, Saturda or Sundaafternoon flick to watch in your PJs.Grease 2 had a lot of the original "feel good-ness" of the first, butthe some of the musical numbers were reall not that good. As anexample, the number where Stephanie sings with the "dead"nerd-turned-lover and newl heart throb, Michael Carrington, plaed byMax Caulfield. In addition, the actor taking over Travolta's part (sortof), Zmed, is not the handsome Travolta Danny Zucco is in the original. All in all, this movie had some pretty big shoes to fill, but it's nota bad little film to help you spend a laz weekend afternoon. So forthat kind of entertainment value alone, I give it 5 out 10 stars.Grease is still the word. |

terribly underrated film.grease 2 is one of my favorite films. when i watched grease 2 back in1982,i forgot what grease 1 was all about and maybe that's why i appreciatedthemovie more. grease 2 had no chance of being appreciated because ofeveryone's high expectations.i have watched grease 2 over 20 times and i swear maxwell caulfield looksbetter every single time.give it a chance and watch it, be open to the experience and you've loveit! |

A new take on an old favoriteThis review is from: Grease 2 (DVD) Not as good as the original (obviously), but still lots of fun if you like campy musicals! The movie carries a few good songs (see "Cool Rider") that will keep you humming along... |

Its still the word, but I don't wanna say it anymoreThis crap sandwich lacked some important elements. A leading man thatcouldsing. Common. Travolta was cool because there wasn't anything he couldn'tdo. He sang, danced, and acted. The story wasn't so bad it was just thatthe songs and the singers were horrible...and this was amusical. |

Not too bad, but grease was betterFrankly I like the music and the acting isn't bad. I really am a bigfan of Michelle Pheifer, so anything she is in she shines. MaxClaudfield is cute but seems not so real. Didi Conn was great in thefirst movie and this one she was still a cutie, but not the samecaliber as before. All of the other characters are well played. Themovie's story is not so good but still is entertaining. The songs leavea sexual impression in most scenes but they are still fun hearted. Ilike this movie for the actors and the music. I do not like the storybecause it has nothing really to do with Grease one except for briefnuances of certain characters (i.e. Sandie, Her parents and VinceFontaine). |

Good at the time, but didn't age so well...Depending on when you saw this film relative to when you saw theoriginal "Grease," your viewpoints probably differ as to the quality ofthis movie.I saw both within a month of each other at age 13. I hated the originaland loved this one.As I've gotten older, I've come to recognize that the original is abetter piece of work, overall. The music from the original is betterwhen taken as a whole. The supporting cast of the original has betterplayers. The storyline doesn't seem as convoluted at times. But there's something about this movie that holds on to you. It appealsmuch more to the age group pictured in the movie (i.e., junior-high andhigh-schoolers). The song "Cool Rider" and the scenes that accompany itin the movie rival anything in the original. The dialog is better in places and the interplay between the male andfemale leads are better, I believe, than in the original. The originalmovie's pairing of Travolta and Newton-John gave us a dimwit trying towoo a goodie-two-shoes girl whose performance was oftentimes wooden anduncomfortable. This one gives us Caulfield and Pfeiffer, and theinterplay between an intelligent, wise-beyond-his-years male lead andthe "wild child" female lead.Adrian Zmed's supporting performance as Johnny still cracks me up andis one of the few performances from this movie that still entertain meas an adult. That's because outside of the performances of accomplished characteractors Christopher McDonald, Eve Arden and Dody Goodman, the rest ofthis cast is just plain bad. Some of it is bad acting, some of it ismiscasting and a lot of it is bad writing. What we're left with today, 20-something years later, is a movie thatmade a really good attempt to build on the original, but in the end,was the soufflé that fell. It's still better than most want to admit, but it could have stood a couple of rewrites and a little moreattention to detail in the prospective cast interview room. |

This is the most fantastic film i have ever seenI know that some of you out there have never really seen the need for aremake of a un-disputed classic Grease, but for me, although i have seenrecent photos of Maxwell Caulfield (micheal), a.k.a. the love of mylife(until i had to except that i was infact 40 years too late, and tooyoung!!!!) Grease 2 will always be the new generation of greasers, for thenew generation, me!Maxwell Caulfield has been my teen heart throb ever since i first stumbledupon what is now my most treasured film, and CD, Grease 2, and i think thatthe only thing any of the original grease 2 cast should be apologising for,is ever letting Maxwell Caulfield grow up!!!!And never wanting to carry on the most loved line of films, if for only me,to the next generation!!!!!Maxwell Caulfield and too Michel Pheiffer are two of my most well lovedand respected actors, and this film will always be the reason i beleive inteen years, love and life!!!!!!!!! |

Best Movie I've Seen!!I love the movie. The first time i ever saw it i always kept seeing it over and over and over again, i couldnt stop. But i think that shephine should take back jonny caz hez cute as HELL!!! I think the t-birds are cute (all of them). They should also make a grease 3. They can say there going to a back to school reunion and then they can see who is better than each other. For ex: like the pink ladies (grease 1) can have a compition with the other pink ladies(grease 2) to see who's better and the same with the t-birds (grease 1 and 2). I wish i could be in a movie like that. |

After all, it is a sequel. And "by definition alone, they're inferior films." Don't let the title mislead you. Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta are not back for the second installment. I was disappointed the first time I saw it, because I was expecting another Grease. If that's the attitude you're coming in with, you're not going to get much out of it. Still, it's a good movie. Not a great movie. It has its moments. My personal favorites involve the evil cheerleading twins and their duet "Brad", as well as the many different stages of the "tree" costume(I still think the box with the picture and the word tree on it was the best). At Rydell High in 1961 apparently the girls are the ones with the backbones, and the guys are chickens. The cast does a good enough job with the mediocre material they've been given. The one stand out talent comes in the voice of Peter Frechette, not a very well known name, but when you listen to "Let's Do It For Our Country" and compare it to the rest of the songs, you'll see what I mean. If you're looking for mindless fun and a few catchy tunes, Grease is still the word. |

Better Than GreaseI know this movie wasn't as well made as part 1. I know the acting wasworse. I know the whole point of making this movie was for money. But GuessWhat?I DON'T CAREI LOVE THIS MOVIE.I like the songs better, the actors almost look like high-schoolers (morethan in grease 1). And Michelle Pfeiffer looks so hot in this movie. Ireally wish I had been a teenager when she was. (BTW, she did do her ownsinging, I don't know what that other idiot reviewer Chad Wyers is talkingabout). The songs weren't as well written or sung, but I still liked thembetter. If this hadn't been made as a sequel, it would have been accused ofcopying, so they did perfect. Not Oscar-worthy, but not perfect.1-10=8.5 |

predictable, corny, forgettable, funny, nostalgicSure, it was nowhere near as good as Grease. In no way shape or form. The plot was predictable. The script corny. The acting justsatisfactory (for what they had to work with). The songs generallyforgettable. The dance numbers not worth mentioning. It had a weakpoint - of being "cool" - compared to what "grease" is all about.But...Hey, I like it! The songs have grown on me, some of them. The corninessof it all fit the package. It was a bit nostalgic to see these actorsin a B-grade flick, knowing who they are now (or not). And it's sofunny because sometimes it's not trying to be!Even though it's a horrid movie, I liked it, and would love to catch iton a stage. On the stage the corniness would fit even better! |

Fun, Loose Sequel Far Outshines Predecessor"Grease" isn't a very good movie. And maybe "Grease 2" isn't, either, but something about it is just much more enjoyable. Maybe it's the morelikable romantic leads. Maybe it's the better songs. Maybe....What am I doing?!"G2" is pretty fun. On its own, it's a musical about bikes and socialstatus and Marilyn Monroe look-alikes. But otherwise, people can't fixon this movie because it's a sequel to "Grease," which has to be one ofthe most overrated musicals ever. From the groovy opening number to the very sway-friendly finale, thisfilm brings it all home with very few groaners compared to themultitudes of them in the original. |

From What I Saw Of It....."Grease 2" was not that bad. I didn't see the whole thing, but I saw about half of it on tv. It doesn't hold a candle to the first film, but it has some good things goign for it. The plot is paper thin. The performances are pretty stiff (Michelle Pfeiffer, my favorite actress after Ann-Margret, has done much better), but the songs were catchy and the film was overall watchable. I'd recommend it. |

makes you laugh out loudthis movie is really really bad, but parts are so funny and absurd that you will laugh like crazy! Reproduction???? Score Tonight??? All laughable songs that were never written to change the world, just to make us all shake our head and wonder WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?? The opening sequence "back to school" and "cool rider" were pretty good and original, but "charades", "do it for our country" and "Prowlin" UGH - just painful to sit through!! The characters were funny in their roles - Danny and Kenickie were both very cool, but Johnny was a wimp and Goose was a ... and none of the TBirds were cool at all! I thought the Pink Ladies were ok - and I didn't think Michelle Pfeiffer was all that bad. The TBirds were what ruined it. Paulette's sister Doris was not necessary. Frenchy served little purpose. Mr. Spears was a funny character, and Ms. Magee, Blanche and Coach Calhoun were good carry-overs from the original. The first was MUCH better, but this one has a FEW highlights. I couldn't accept the new TBirds, and Maxwell Caulfield didn't seem right for the part. Bottom line - watch it when you need a good laugh |

Guilty PleasureHow many of us will actually admit that we enjoyed this movie? Hence, that is why it is a guilty pleasure of mine.Of course, 20 years ago, when I first saw it, I wouldn't have agreed with my previous statement here. For a sequel, it isn't bad, but it isn't good either. It's so bad it is good. This is classic 80's cheese at it's finest 1 and 1/2 hours. What is really amazing about this film is that Michelle Pfeiffer is the star. She plays Stephanie Zinoni, the new leader of the Pink Ladies. Yes, the pink ladies are in this one, too. Not only can Pfeiffer look down right unhappy to be in this film, but she can sing! and dance! sort of...The highlight for her singing is with "Cool Rider", a tune in which she declares what it is she really wants in a guy to Michael. She isn't a bad crooner, she even crooned in a much better movie "The Fabulous Baker Boys". Watching this on t.v.(the watered down, edited version), the other day, and now being older and wiser than I was the first 20 times, I think that Pfeiffer really didn't want to do this film. Perhaps she was embarrassed and still is by it. She doesn't look like she is enjoying being in a musical comedy. Her acting isn't bad, but it is strained. Maybe that is how the character should be played, but like John Travolta in "Grease", she just looks bored and uninterested. As far as the movie goes, I can't believe I was so obsessed with this at one time. I know it was only because it had the name "Grease" attached to it.That is the only similarity it has with the original. That and some of the same actors have come back. Didi Conn, Sid Ceasar, Eve Arden, and Doodie Goodman are all here. Frenchie, is showing Sandy's English cousin, Michael Carrington, played quite lamely by Maxwell Caulfield, the "ropes". Michael falls for Stephanie. Stephanie has just dumped the leader of the t-birds, Johnny Nogerelli. Johnny is played by Adrian Zmed. He hasn't become an Academy award nominated actor like Pfeiffer, but he is a decent enough actor who seems to fit more into this and looks more comfortable than Michelle. Michael does everything he can in his power to become the "cool rider" that Stephanie is looking for. The really unrealistic part is how she meets up with him once he becomes Mr. Cool Rider, and she doesn't even know who he really is. But we wouldn't have much of a movie if she did know, right? Also, the ending of the first movie is so much better. Here, we have a luai with corny tunes. Much much cornier than "We got Together". Instead, we get "We'll be together" as the last song. Even though I know this is hardly a great movie musical, it seems to still keep me entertained today. The soundtrack has some really fun songs, and once again, I find myself just having fun watching and singing along. Watch it for pure mindless fun. |

You'll love it or you'll hate it.Grease 2 is actually a phenomenon that has gone totally unrecognized by themainstream media. It has a significant cult following, evidenced by theincredible amount of enthusiastic support I have received for my website. For many of us, Grease 2 appeals on a really schlocky level. If you openyour mind to the silliness of it all, you will love this movie and watch itagain and again. Spread the word...Jack Humphrey (President and Co-Founder, Son of Grease FanClub) |

Extraordinarily Under-rated MovieWhile it must be said that the acting in this sequel is poor at bestand the script is very cheesy, the storyline is much better than theoriginal, the film is generally as enjoyable if not at parts more so,the music is phenomenal, with some truly fantastic songs (Cool Riderjust one of them) as well as some fantastic choreography. This film iscontinually slammed, as when I mention that I think it is better insome ways than the original, I am slapped in the face, yet it does notdeserve so, and people need to realise just how brilliant Grease 2really is (at least as a musical, its powerful dramatic content couldbe debated slightly). So next time you watch this film, please keep anopen mind to this fantastic musical. |

It's really OK to like this movie!Yes, yes, it is a terrible movie, but harmlessly so. It's funny, it'scheesy, it's upbeat, the songs are catchy, so don't be surprised if youcatch yourself singing them! I also watched this movie over and over againin my teens with all my friends and we used to re-enact scenes and all. It'sracier than Grease! |
