But what if I want to buy all of Warner's Elvis DVDs?What is going on here, Warner Brothers? You guys normally do such great work with DVD releases. You have sixteen Elvis Presley titles; PUT THEM ALL IN ONE BOX SET! You currently offer no less than four box sets, no combination of which would give the consumer all 16 titles! I could get half of the titles if I bought the Blue Suede Collection. But this set overlaps each of the other three, leaving me with eight other individual titles to purchase. Or I could buy the Signature Collection and The Hollywood Collection, which combine to give me 12 of the 16 titles. Unfortunately, the Signature Collection is an older set, and it does not feature the new 2007 re-release versions of the DVDs. And even if I bought all three of those sets, I would STILL have to purchase Double Trouble and The Trouble With Girls separately. MGM has all four of their Elvis films in one box; and Paramount has all eight of their Elvis titles available in one box set. Come on Warner, help a guy out! |

I love the old movies of the Space NeedleI would love to watch old movies of Elvis Presley and joan O'Brien who were in love and beautiful songs at the Space Needle's revolving restaurant. The old movie was made in Seattle World's Fair 1962 and the Space Needle when it was paint orange, red and yellow. The original paint was very short time from 1962 to 1968. I have Private collection of many original old color slides of the Space Needle when it was paint orange, red and yellow in 1962 Seattle World's Fair. I want let me know when the new DVD movie coming soon. |

go elvis gocome on guys its Elvis Presley, the cat that changed it all. Dont buy this disk set just cause its all nice & fancy or not so fancy .. buy this disk set out of respect for the southern floppin blue shoes that gave back more then he spent on himself. Everyone buys a house, everyone buys a car & everyone brags about what they have but Elvis like his music belongs in a class all by himself. Not everyone takes what he has & gives it away every cotten picken day that is till you meet the one & only Elvis Presley.Check out his 1968 comback specail & you tell me when did you ever see a mega star sit so close & personal with his fans & treat his fans not as fans but family. Its amazing when you look at today to glance at a man that didn't see himself as untouchable as many would in the same situation as Elvis Presley. That my friend makes Elvis Presley pure Elvis & why no other artist has ever touched his fans not cause they couldnt but simply cause they didn't know how or feel that one on one connection as Elvis felt. Many have tamed the fame of Elvis only to fall down, many have gained world success only to togo so far to lose that connection as success gives us that power to foget about the little things that made that success. In all my days, no one has ever walked the steps of Elvis Presley & maybe someday we will once again be taken by ones pashion as we have come to know through Elvis Presley. Buy this DVD set & respect Elvis as Elvis & dont label this disk set as another Tom Parker method to make money. Its your day tobe Elvis Presley & not Tom Parkey so I ask you to slip on those blue shoes & rock rock rock. |

GIRL HAPPY-ONE OF THE MOST ENTERTAINING MOVIES EVER!!!I love every second of this film. Elvis is at his peak and Shelley Fabares is at her most beautiful. The supporting cast is also great: Gary Crosby, Jimmy Hawkins, Joby Baker, Nita Talbot, Harold J. Stone, Chris Noel, Mary Ann Mobley. Every song is great and the chemistry between Elvis & Shelley really shows strong here. No Elvis movie collection should be complete without his best film. I give it an 11 out of 10! |

Elvis Box SetThis is a 'must have' item for any die hard Elvis fan. The service was quick and efficient and the dvds are little gems. I originally purchased this item for my father (yeh right? He's not getting his hands on them now). This was a reasonable price for an item which I feel could be a collectors item in the future. Long live the king! |

Review of Elvis DVDsThis review is from: Elvis Presley - The Signature Collection (It Happened at the World's Fair / Speedway / Spinout / Harum Scarum / Jailhouse Rock / Viva Las Vegas) (DVD) The DVEs tapes were bought as a Christmas present and am well satified witht the product. However shipping seemed to take quite a long time. That was probably because of the time of year [Christmas with all the extra mail etc.] The product did not get here until the middle of the first week in Jan. |

A Fair within a musical storyAfter having viewed this movie, you feel like if you have been a visitor atthe Seattle's World Fair in 64, I enjoyed espescially the revolvingrestaurant at the top of the Space Needle, the story is bleak but the view isspectacular, the tunes are good, the actors are good, very few women ascompared to other Elvis' movies. All in all, captivating, interresting and agood time spent watching this film. |

"This beach sure is crowded!" ... "So is that bikini!"Ft. Lauderdale frolic has Elvis Presley cast as a Chicagorock-'n-roller who, along with his outfit-matching band members, takeson assignment to secretly chaperone the boss' daughter as she vacationswith her girlfriends down in Florida. Plush M-G-M musical with a dandyproduction design, lots of fun slapstick and girl-watching. The plot, such as it is, doesn't make a whole lot of sense (especially with Elvishaving his cover blown by Shelley Fabares' tyrannical father, who thengets mad at Presley when his daughter decides to go crazy). The songsrange from very good ("Puppet on a String", "The Meanest Girl In Town")to awful ("I've Got to Find My Baby", "Wolf Call"), but there's agroovin' beach bash with excitable dancing and a funny prison breakoutsequence in which E.P. gets stuck in a cell with twenty females (andescapes in drag!). Mary Ann Mobley has an insulting role (and hermake-up is too dark, causing her to look overcooked by the sun), butFabares is breezy and there's a nice supporting turn by Nita Talbot asa streetwise stripper. Overall, not a bad Presley-fest, though thescreenplay could've used some sharpening, and the extras are oftenhilariously wooden. **1/2 from **** |

a mildly wolfish Elvis prowls Seattle World's Fair...In his films, Elvis Presley usually doesn't have to work too hard to get the girl, but he's a bit of a wolf in It Happened At The World's Fair (1963), a film set in Seattle during the Century 21 Exposition in 1962. The film features a number of scenes involving the event, including the trademark Space Needle. As Mike Edwards, Presley is in a familiar role as a pilot. Edwards and partner Danny Burke (Gary Lockwood) own a small plane, which has impounded because of Burke's gambling debts. In need of cash to try and get their plane out of hock, the guys head to Seattle, catching a ride aboard a produce truck driven by Walter Ling (Kam Tong). They also get acquainted with Ling's adorable seven year old niece Sue-Lin (Vicky Tiu).Arriving in Seattle, Mike agrees to take Sue-Lin to the World's Fair while her Uncle makes a delivery. The pair have a great time seeing the sights, but when Sue-Lin gets a tummy ache Mike drops by the dispensary at the fair, where he meets nurse Diane Warren (Joan O'Brien) and is instantly interested.Continuing his gambling ways, Danny manages to get a place for them to stay. Mike gets a kid (Kurt Russell) to kick him in the shin, in order to get something going with a certain nurse. But things get complicated for Mike, when Uncle Walter disappears, and he has to take care of Sue-Lin. Danny has hooked up with shady businessman Vince Bradley (H. M. Wynant), who has a job for the boys. Mike is prepared to fly for Bradley, but when Sue-Lin disappears, all bets are off.The setting of the Century 21 Exposition adds a lot of color to the film. The monorail, the Federal Science Pavilion, the Space Needle, and the futuristic car the Firebird III, are among the sights and locations featured in the film. Although there are a couple of fight scenes, the movie is mostly a fun romp, though it seems a little light in the music department.Elvis and Gary Lockwood have pretty good chemistry, and make a pretty good team. Mike Edwards is a bit of a cad in this film, as early on he has his hands all over Yvonne Craig, in a pretty hot scene that ends with a shotgun blast. Nurse Diane Warren resists his advances pretty well, until trickery comes into play, and opens the door to romance. Young Vicky Tiu is charming in her lone film appearance. She would grow up to be a successful business woman, and then the first lady of the state of Hawaii, when her husband Ben Cayetano became the governor of the Aloha state. Vicky's sisters and brother, had appeared with Elvis in Girls! Girls! Girls! (1962).The featured locations at Seattle's World's Fair help make this a more memorable effort. Elvis's performance shows a little more depth, as he balances being a little more amorous, with taking responsibility for the care of a young child. At 3.5 stars, this is definitely recommended viewing for Presley fans, and those interested in Kurt Russell's film debut. |

"Hey, kid, how would you like to kick me in the shin?"Never expecting too much from an Elvis Presley movie occasionally pays off. And sometimes all it takes to elevate a Presley flick is a switching up of venue or premise. Cases in point: the N'Awleans-set KING CREOLE, the straight-up westerns FLAMING STAR and CHARRO!, and the ghetto doctor drama CHANGE OF HABIT, which co-stars Mary Tyler Moore as a nun. And for some reason I find FOLLOW THAT DREAM to be a surprisingly engaging film. IT HAPPENED AT THE WORLD'S FAIR happens to also fall on my list of preferred Elvis Presley screenings. In his film career, Elvis longed to branch out to more demanding roles and be perceived as a serious actor. But he seldom landed those dramatic parts. IT HAPPENED AT THE WORLD'S FAIR is regarded as one of his formulaic musical comedy romps, but it presents its own easy-going charm. The character in this film may not have been that challenging for Elvis to play, but I think this is one of the most likeable parts he's ever taken on.There are several cool things about the picture. First, the story is set in the backdrop of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. Director Norman Taurog actually shot the film on location, lending it an authenticity and a sort of fun, wide-eyed wonder feel. Sights like the Space Needle, the monorail, and the Dream Car exhibit are featured, and, let's not forget, most of the story takes place in a friggin' fair! Granted, there's probably a bit of imprinting that went down when I first saw this movie when I was a kid, because nowadays those sights don't come off near as neat. But I still like the atmosphere.Freelance charter pilots Mike Edwards (Presley) and his chum Danny (Gary Lockwood) lose their crop-duster plane due to Danny's gambling debts, and they hitchhike to the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. It's a skimpy story, bolstered by ten songs. The core of the plot has Mike taking in an abandoned seven-year-old girl and falling for an attractive but standoffish nurse (Joan O'Brien). And, somewhere along the way, a criminal element is introduced to spice things up, giving a reason for Elvis to engage in manly scuffle, the second one in this film. I'll say this for the King, he really throws himself into his fight scenes. It all ends with Elvis submitting his application to NASA (I kid you not!) and singing "Happy Ending."Presley is fairly effortless in this one, his role well within the comforts of the cinematic niche he'd fallen into. He again does that thing where he's simultaneously a relentless skirt chaser and a good guy at heart. There are ten songs, most of which are bland. The ones I do like are the suggestive "Relax" (he croons to Yvonne Craig), the mild rocker "One Broken Heart for Sale," and the bouncy bedtime lullaby "Cotton Candy Land."Elvis is particularly terrific and sweet when he's sharing screen time with young scene-stealer Vicky Tiu, who I think is the film's secret weapon. Vicky Tiu plays the waif Sue-Lin, and she brings a certain irrepressible energy and oodles of cuteness. For triviaheads out there, there's a sexy pre-Batgirl Yvonne Craig canoodling with Elvis, a pre-2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY Gary Lockwood as the gambling addicted pal, and, last but not least, there is Kurt Russell's uncredited film debut (he's the kid who kicks Elvis in the shin - twice!).3.5 out of 5 stars for IT HAPPENED AT THE WORLD'S FAIR. I like this movie enough that I choose to overlook the fact that Uncle Walter leaves his seven-year-old niece Sue-Lin in the care of a stranger he'd only met that same day. But then maybe he was aware that he was in an Elvis Presley vehicle, where all is sunshine, romance, and song. Ah-huh-huh! |

Girl Happy proves fun for Elvis fans.Okay, say what you want about Elvis Presley's movies, but some of them were actually a lot of fun. Girl Happy is one of those. Elvis and his band travel to Fort Lauderdale for the annual pilgramage of college students for spring break. He is there to perform at a local club and to keep an eye on Shelley Fabares, not a bad job. Fabares adds some extra zest to this forumulaic Elvis movie. The songs are pretty good too with the title track along with Cross My Heart Hope to Die, Puppet on a String and my favorite, Meanest Girl in Town in which Shelley shakes things up, literally. I remember going to the local theater when I was about 13 or 14 to see this movie, then I bought the soundtrack to it and played the grooves off the record. This movie is a lot of fun and can be pretty nostalgic as well as a bit of a piece of pop history. |
