Queen Courteney

(2013-05-15 21:07:18)

Courteney is looking amazing!!

I don't really see what everyones problem with this film is, I found thatitfulfilled it's primary purpose which is to entertain!! There are way toomany films out there these days that are too self-righteous and while Idon't dislike serious films, I think that it is nice to have a littleescapism, which this film provides successfully.I ordered this film off of the internet (as it is not available in England)because I am a huge Courteney Cox fan and after watching it I love her evenmore!! I thought the character of Cybil was absolutely adorable, it's easytoo see why Michael would get drawn into taking her and Jesse... I would(hehe)Courteney looks so amazing in this film, it is worth buying it just becauseof her!! NO red blooded male (or female, like me...) should miss her inthisfilm... one word,... breathtaking, I could stare at her all day...Anyway, I'll stop talking now, just GO SEE IT!! It's definately much betterthan those jumped up critics say!!

3000 miles from greatness

It is unfortunate that movie fans had to sit through a pointless film, poor acting and even worse directing, but this is exactly how I feltwhen I saw "3000 Miles To Graceland;" one of the worst films of 2001.It is hard to conceive of the notion and shocking to watch actors ofgreat caliber such as Kevin Costner, Kurt Russell, Christian Slater andCourtney Cox combine their talents to turn in terrible performances inan awful film.Costner, Russell, Slater and Cox are far from their destination as theytry to reach Graceland. Films such as "3000 Miles To Graceland" make mequestion the screenwriters ability to come up with an entertainingscript. Two hours of non-stop gratuitous action and four high profileactors cannot make up for the lacking elements of "3000 Miles ToGraceland." This film fails to reach the potential it had with theoriginal concept. There is nothing new about "3000 Miles To Graceland" because a similarplot was created to entertain audiences a year earlier called "ReindeerGames." Since I enjoyed "Reindeer Games," I thought I would enjoy thisfilm; however, I was sorely disappointed to learn that this movie wasnothing more than four men with a desire to play dress up in Elviscostumes. If I wanted to see Elvis impersonators, I would travel toMemphis and take part in the Elvis convention. The biggest problem I found with "3000 Miles To Graceland" wasunderstanding the reason why this film was made. Four men paradingaround in Elvis costumes is so uninteresting I felt like walking out ofthe theater and asking for my money back; something I rarely findmyself doing.Another problem I had was the lack of focus and commitment showed bythe actors. With each passing scene, it became painfully obvious thatthe actors were more interested in the concept of prancing around incostumes playing cowboys and indians.Though there was a plot somewhere scattered among this mess; however, Ifailed to see the connection and relevance of most of the scenes. Thescenes seemed to be slapped together and forced for the purpose ofmaking another Elvis film. The writers must have had their minds onother topics because their effort certainly showed in the outcome. Zeroplot, zero effort and zero character development totals a really badwritten film. If I had a nickel each time I pointed out an irrelevantscene, the bank would go broke and I would be a rich man.Costner has been one of my favorite actors since I was a kid. "Field OfDreams marked the first time I saw this tremendous talent at work and Iknew he had the ability to draw the audience into the film. With aroller coaster career that includes box office failures such as"Waterworld" and successes such as "Dances With Wolves," Costner hasproved he is only human. Watching Costner perform in "3000 Miles ToGraceland" was terrible because he put no effort into trying to makehis character come alive. I look forward to the next Costner filmbecause it is sure to be a hit.Russell has always been actor one can always count on to deliverpowerful and comedic performances; however, he takes a nosedive withhis worst film since "Soldier." Like Costner, I sat through "3000 MilesTo Graceland" watching Russell perform in a flat and extremelyone-dimensional role. It hurts to see an actor who has had a successfulmovie career make a huge mistake choosing to make this movie. I couldonly wish and hope he can rebound from this movie and get on track onceagain.I would like to talk about the supporting cast; however, thereperformances were so awful it doesn't deserve any comment. Cox was outof her element and should return to sitcom fame; Slater should makewise decisions regarding which roles to take."3000 Miles To Graceland" is far from its destination and drives itselfinto the ground as it strives to entertain viewers. Even with thefirepower of Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell, "3000 Miles To Graceland"could not overcome its over-glorification of Elvis Presley; two thumbsway down. Along with films such as "All The Pretty Horses,""Battlefield Earth," "Soldier" and "Freddy Got Fingered;" "3000 MilesTo Graceland" belongs in a graveyard containing films that should neverto be seen.

Wednesday night surprise

A late night surprise! While I was about to get up out of my seat, Iaccidentally came across this movie. It took me by surprise, and I keptwatching, and I'm glad I did. I guess if you start comparing it withPulp Fiction, it probably doesn't seem like much; similar plotelements, style,... Of course there's a few borrowed elements, but ifyou set aside your prejudice you'll see that they put those elements togood use and it makes for an enjoyable movie! The music was great, excellent support for the action scenes and great mood setting. Theacting was solid, a lot of charisma, good style, everything you'd wantfrom a movie like this.I also liked the emotional undertone, so it's not just deadbeat action. There are a number of subtle and less subtle subplots that make themovie worth a second watch in my opinion. Overall a very enjoyablemovie, to be taken with a bucket of popcorn.

This movie should be called "Next stop, Crap factory"

I love watching bad action movies. Not because i think they are good, butbecause they suck. This movie didnt let me down in the sucky department.Contains SpoilersThis stinker is about some Elvis' who rob a casino. I think this issupposed to be funny or something. but Jokes about the King are so out ofdate. i had my fill of Elvis humor shortly after "honeymoon in vegas" buthey that isnt the only problem with this movie.Kevin Costner is on the boarder of cartoonish super evil. Kurt Russel, well, let me just say that i have never seen him in a "good" movie. Notthat he's a bad actor. He just likes working on bad movies. And thenthereis Courtney Cox, Aside from "the whole nine yards" and "the opposite ofsex"name me one good movie staring one of the "friends".Man the local cops in this movie are sooooo stupid. and the fed aint muchsmarter.Let us see here. At the end of the movie Kurt Russel is wounded in a shootout and pulled out of a werehouse. everybody knows hes not a cop, and itisunlikly that he works for the werehouse. but the police say that everyoneinvolved the the robbery is dead? and the money will never be recovered?ithink in the "real world" kurt would have been gaurded. or at least an eyekept on him. Not just left in the back of an ambulance todie.

Idiotic plot basis ruins not very good film-

Just finished watching this movie and after 10 years it has only gottenharder to view. There are some nice actors that have since gone on tobigger things, and some old actors that we haven't heard much fromlately, so I thought it was worth a repeat view.I was a bit off the mark. There are some decent scenes, and it was niceto see familiar faces portraying somewhat interesting characters, butthe premise of the film is so lacking credibility that I felt irritatedthroughout.First of all, if you are going to rob a casino full of Elvisimpersonators while being dressed like Elvis why don't you use this tohelp escape or blend in?? Then, how do you spray every camera exceptthe one that shows you taking the money? Why would you then have to gothrough the entire casino floor to get to the roof? This would perhapsbe the most ridiculous- but it is topped by the struggle which makes upthe entire rest of the movie- the money is taken from HARD COUNT.Now anyone who knows anything about casinos knows that they take in alot of cash money. This money has to be counted (these are the peoplein the room where the gang-o-thieves grab the cash). This is not moneyfrom the bank but money going to the bank and therefore this money isin no way marked and there is absolutely NO REASON for it to be marked. So going to find someone to launder this cash is completely idiotic. Therefore the rest of this movie is idiotic and makes no sensewhatsoever. Really people, I know this isn't supposed to be real life but base amovie on some sort of reality. Or else call it science fiction orfantasy or something. This was so far fetched that I couldn'tobjectively watch the rest. Too bad? Or maybe just as well.

Action packed and entertaining

I have to strongly disagree with the review left by Keyser Soze-12. Whilethis movie was violent, it was also done very well. And as a female, Idisagree with Keyser's comments to not bring your girlfriend to see thismovie. All I care is that a movie entertains me; it doesn't have to bedeep,or send a message, or make a statement, just entertain me - and this onedid. Costner plays totally against his norm, he's the nastiest guy you'dnever want to meet, and yet you can't help but enjoy his character and thefact that he fights until the end. Russell's character has a heart, butevenhe doesn't know it until the end. And while Cox is a whiney, clingy paininthe butt, she serves her purpose. And her kid is simply excellent. Thismovie has action, violence, and a good dose of humor, sarcastic andotherwise. Plus it has some great music in it. If you want to see anactionfilm that simply entertains, and will even make you laugh, then see thismovie - even if you have to pay for it.

Scorching gun filled theater on celluloid

Take your brain out, open a six-pack and laugh yourself silly at thisbrilliantly tacky steam train of a movie.Courteney Cox at her sexy best! Loads of shoot outs with great effectsand abacking track that has a beat, almost in time with the hammers hittingthefiring pins.Costner and Russell appear to be in their elements, although Russell hasmore reason to be! You decide. I loved it but then I didn't take it tooseriously.

Vegas,Elvis,Heist,Russell,Slater,Costner,Cox! ! perfection...

I love this flick!I still watch it all the time! Being a huge Elvisfan,i noticed that this movie adds a lot of classic "Elvis movie"elements woven into the storyline. As a big "vegas-heist film" fan, Ilove the idea of using Elvis impersonators to get inside the casinowith virtually no attention being drawn to them.As an "action/gunslinger" film fan, this movie has the style,gun-play,and violence youwant!Soundtrack is spot on,combining Elvis classics, remixes, and modernelectronic, and rock from some great underground/mainstream artists. Theopening credits pay homage to "the great white hype" using someawesome, and funny CG.The cast is cool,i also like Thomas Hayden Churchin his agent role, opposite Kevin Pollak. This movie is in my must ownlist.

3000 Miles to Crapola

This film is completely dreadful. Kurt Russell and Kevin Costner lead agroup of Elvis impersonators in robbing a Vegas Casino. The film has allofthe usual action film cliches, like double crosses, and characters whofireguns and DON'T seem to run out of ammunition. The worst thing about thisfilm is the interaction between Kurt Russell and Courtney Cox. They hadabsolutely NO chemistry. It's film that people aren't supposed to takeseriously, but it's still bad. Avoid this mess at ALL costs.

Great story: Costner at his best -really!!

Stamped in Style and Covered in Cool, "3000 Miles to Graceland" has Instantly become one of my Favourite films of All Time. Two of my Favourite Actors on the Planet (Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell, who also faced off a few years ago with their Rival Wyatt Earp pics, "Tombstone" and "Wyatt Earp") Face Off in the most Explosive Action film since "Desperado".Yes, it's Morally Reprehensible, So What. All Style, No Substance... Hardly. Yes, it Glorifies Violence. So did "Pulp Fiction" and "Reservoir Dogs" and They are classed as Classics. In Time.. So with "3KMTG", but not your Regular Classic, it's a Cult Classic. The Definition of a Cult Classic is a film that Critics Hated, Audiences Ignored, gets Attention of Video due to a Built in Fan Base (Elvis fans.. Anyone) and Eventually grows into a Force to be Reckoned with. It'll Happen.. Oh yes.. It'll Happen. Not since Tarantino and his Black-Suited Jewel Thieves Slow-Moed their way into Crim-Cinema History with "Reservoir Dogs" has Crime ever looked So Cool. Costner may not be Looking very Youthful these days, but he Acts with a Teens Energy as Thomas J Murphy, the Heathen with a Heart of Stone. Russell balances the Scales as Michael Zane, The Heavy with the Heart of... Bronze. Gold would have been taking things a Little Far. He's Nice, but he Ain't that nice. He's Mel in "Payback" nice; he's the Diet Coke of nice, Just One Calorie... Not Nice Enough. They both give Ultra-cool Infinitely Fun Performances. Kurt makes the Perfect mix of "Snake Plissken" Strong Silent type, "Gabriel Cash" Humour and "Elvis" Cool. Costner creates a Character unlike Anything in His Resume. (his Southern Crim in "A Perfect World" would come closest) He is 100% Cool, I was Grinning Ear to Ear Every time he was On Screen. The Whole film is Anti-Hero-Heaven. (which is Also were many of the characters End Up)Oh Yeah, the film also features Christian Slater, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, Bokeem Woodbine, Kevin Pollak, John Lovitz, Howie Long, Ice T and Thomas Haden Church... But Forget them, this is Kurt and Costner's pic All the Way.Demian Lichtenstein's Frenetic Direction is as Warped and Wild as the films Morals. It is Blindingly Obvious that his Career stems from Music Videos, but I'll always think of him as "The Sandman" as he has made the Film of my Dreams. The Perfect Cocktail of Crime-Caper, Over-the-Top Action and Black Comedy. The kind of film that No one else has the Guts to make in Hollywood. (John Woo makes this kind in Hong Kong; Robert Rodriguez makes them in Mexico) If you Haven't made This Trip to Graceland, Forget the Critics, Get your Bubblegum and Go. It is a Wild, Wild ride that you Won't Soon Forget.

Big Dumb Loud Violent Sexy Trashy FUN

You know, I think the makers of this film have established a formula thatworks: Elvis impersonators + automatic weapons + trashy women - anysocially redeeming value = GOOD TIMES.This film is a guilty pleasure. I was fully aware that this movie was anutter train wreck from the opening credits, yet I enjoyed every worthlessmoment of it. Lots of crude humor. Lots of eye candy (Courtney Cox in tighttrailer trash pants being the main offering in this area). LOTS and LOTS ofgunfire (almost enough to give John Woo shell-casing envy). All the critcshated this film, and when the critics universally hate something, it'seither really really bad, or it's so bad that it's good. This would be oneof the latter.Don't think about the plot (such as it is). Don't expect any credibility inthe characters or their actions or motivations. Just shut off your brain androll with it.

vile, disgusting, offensive, mysoginistic, incompetent, and, and, and....

Good god, never in my darkest nightmares did I expect 3000 MILES TOGRACELAND to be this horrible. There is not one likable character, and KurtRussell, an actor I usually enjoy immensely, looks hopelessly at sea in thismovie. Someone should whack Kevin Costner's agent with a 2X4 for allowinghim to be in this movie, he's a horrible character by default, but Costerdoes nothing to keep us engaged. Worse yet, the action seqeuences arehorribly done; it looks like the director and cinematographer were on someserious dosage of cocaine while shooting this movie. Hands down, I can'tthink of a single more unpleasant movie than this. Warner Brothers should beashamed of themselves. They've produced some awful movies before, butnothing as offensive, brain-dead, and vile as this. Their marketing strategyis brilliant yet sickening; they put together a trailer that makes the movielook fun and exhilirating, when in reality it's boring, lobotomized, andoffensive to anyone with any human decency. This is shameful trash, and I'msurprised, not to mention appalled, that it hasn't already startedcontroversy over it's gratuitously violent nature.

if you can, avoid

I was wondering, after finishing this film, how this laughable movie evergot made. I thought about the premise, and how if pitched, would sound likea very interesting and promising one. That's probably what sold such nametalent as Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell to do it, because it never couldhave been Demian Lichtenstein's previous directorial effort, Lowball. Theperformances all around, but especially Courteney Cox's are forgettable atbest. Demian rips off so many movie genre set pieces you can't tellwhetherhe's trying to make a drama, a buddy-movie, a western, an Elvis spoof, or acomedy (too many varieties represented here)... it all comes together in amish-mash of bad dialogue, horrible camera composition (especially thegratuitous dutch-angle from underneath the bed as someone leaves the roomshot), bad photography (costner and the biker scene - could thecinematographer tell what time of day it was?), and your everyday MTV styleediting (a cover up, i assure you)...Avoid this movie if you can, I wouldn't even recommend it if you're stuckonan airplane and there's nothing else to watch...

Stunningly Good

This review is from: 3000 Miles to Graceland (Snap Case) (DVD) Wow! I watched 3000 Miles the other night and was shocked by how good it was. I would have thought that Tarantino filmed this one. At turns humorous and nasty, fun and funny, the movie keeps you guessing right up until the end. Its also nice to see Courtney Cox actually playing a sexy woman for a change, getting mean and doing the nasty. Interestingly, her husband has a cameo and is quickly killed off. That was worth the price of admission alone.

This Ice-T's For You

Taking the road less traveled, here is a brief synopsis on what can arguablybe called rapper-cum-actor Ice-T's greatest role to date. True, glancing atthe cast of "3000 Miles to Graceland", the average Ice-T fan might be putoff that his hero is so low in the billing. Then perusing through the film, the Ice-T fan might begin to wonder whether his hero's scenes were left onthe editing room floor. At least, that's the impression one gets. While it seems at other theaters, the dominant question was aimed at themovie's scripting and casting capabilities. At my local movie-house however,I did not let the movie get away so easily, having nearly reached the endingwithout revealing its unique hidden talent Ice-T waiting for his turn toshine.SPOILER!Ice-T's character is named 'Hamilton'. He is a...SPOILER!...weapons specialist. And as such, Hamilton is called in to bolster evil-Elvis Murphy's (KevinCostner, in his finest role I might add, since playing the stiff in "The BigChill") team in the big climactic shootout versus the Feds in a dark,theatrically-lit industrial warehouse. The result is spectacular. ButIce-T's contribution to this movie start earlier, and can be broken downinto three main parts, or 'acts'.Act I: The Introduction to Hamilton -- Upon arrival at the warehouse, Murphystates to fellow crony Howie Long ("Firestorm", the "NFL") that they needmore firepower. Cue Ice-T, who Long boasts 'is a couple of guys (inone)'.Act 2: Getting Inside Hamilton -- Murphy has thought ahead at this moment.Foreseeing a lengthy battle with the police, he has brought sandwiches.Offering one first to his child hostage ("even tough guys gotta eat", hesays), he then offers one to Ice-T. "Would you like a jelly sandwich?"Murphy asks. Ice-T, to this point a silent-but-deadly type, sneers aBilly-Idol-squared sneer and replies. "Yeah", he retorts.Act 3: Hamilton At Work -- Possibly the coup-de-gras moment of the entirefilm, Ice-T shows his creative chops, bursting into the final gun battlesliding upside-down on a cable, spinning, twirling, firing two automatics atonce, and then...SPOILER!...he dies. Just like that. Like that kid in "Pay It Forward", he dies forthe greater cause, which Costner's Murphy then kills when he dies himselfminutes later. All in all, as I stated earlier, quite possibly Ice-T'sgreatest (and shortest) moment in film. See this movie for him. After all,if you were in "3000 Miles to Graceland", Ice-T would watch it foryou.

Visual Style Can't Beat Down Laughable Script and Bad Acting

There was a general agreement among my friends that the idea of a movie ofElvis impersonators robbing Las Vegas had an immediate appeal. So, Iconsidered myself lucky to get free tickets to the premiere. I wasn'texpecting too much more than a quick escape from reality. It didn't geteventhat accomplished. This sort of action flick generally does not need deep analysis. However, the movie falls flat in so many ways it must be said what waswrong.3000 miles from Graceland tries to employ visual montage to overcome badwriting, and poor acting. And frankly the visual style isn't really thathoteither. The movie succeeds mainly on the charm of Costner and Kurt Russell.Everyoneelse is murder to watch, especially Jon Lovitz as the moneylaunderer. You can't understand what is going on in the big finale fight scene. Theedits are too quick, and so frequent that one could not focus long enoughtoactually understand who is doing what to whom.Again, we don't expect serious writing from a movie which is really amidwayride, but at times, the dialogue was so terrible, people were laughingaloudat the premier. Judging by their reaction through the rest of the movie, Idon't think they would recommend it to their friends. It is not a complete waste of time, but I would expect anyone with a bitofintelligence to be least slightly annoyed by this movie.Judging by the advance hype, I guess Warner Bros thinks its a turkeytoo.
